A - Z MICRO IRRITATIONS: O - Overhead lockers on a plane, struggling to get your bag in

    Overview
When you just can’t seem to slot your bag easily into the overhead locker on a plane, and it’s made more difficult by not having enough space to step back and assess the available space, and by people on either side of you being very irritated that you’re taking ages.

    Symptoms
Visible exertion, flapping, increasingly aggressive pushing and shoving of the bag, reddening face, perhaps even grunting. Embarrassment, resentment, self-loathing.

    What causes it?
The angle of the locker and the fact that you can’t really see the available space properly so you’re forced to just start stuffing the bag in and hope for the best.

    Who is affected?
Absolutely everyone who flies in standard class.

    Can it be avoided?
Yes. Avoid the overhead locker altogether and travel with a bag small enough to put under the seat in front.

Hello I am wondering if I can use this article on one of my blogs if I link back to you? Thanks

I wouldn't agree that everyone is affected - there aren't many benefits to being tall when flying, so I take some small solace at being able to see where to put carry-on baggage.

Writing that down, it really feels like grasping at straws...my upside is being able to see into a bin - wow.
